NTT and Mitsubishi Materials will establish a new company, “NTT Circurust” on Wednesday, July 1st.
NTT Circurust aims to expand the use of recycled materials and promote resource recycling. It will comprehensively promote the supply of recycled materials and the dissemination of information regarding their origin, distribution, and environmental impact. Specifically, it will handle the entire flow of goods, from collection and recycling of used IT equipment and communication facilities to the manufacturing and sales of recycled materials, and will also build a system to appropriately transmit information on the characteristics of recycled materials within the supply chain.

Minako Tsumenaga, Head of Alliance Division, Research & Development Marketing Headquarters, NTT Executive Officer, stated, “NTT Group itself generates a large amount of network equipment and personal computers, managing approximately 470,000 tons of waste annually. NTT has the capability to take action as the starting point for resource recycling, and also possesses the ability to build a foundation that connects the flow of information. We want to leverage these two strengths to contribute to creating a market where recycled materials are readily chosen.”
Tatsuya Inoue, Managing Director of Mitsubishi Materials, said, “NTT Circurust will not only supply recycled materials, but will also transmit information such as their origin and environmental value in a highly reliable manner. By creating an environment where the recycled copper we supply can be chosen with confidence, we hope to contribute to the expansion of resource recycling.”
Takaki Miyazaki of NTT, who will become president of NTT Circurust, expressed his aspirations, saying, “We will provide a system in which the value of recycling is correctly evaluated by connecting the flow of goods and the flow of information. We aim to realize a society in which the value of recycling is correctly evaluated and chosen in the market.”
Saori Koga of Mitsubishi Materials, who will also become a director of NTT Circurust, mentioned, “We will be involved in the entire value chain, from the collection of used products to dismantling, recycling, and reuse as materials. We want to make reliable information visible to everyone who entrusts us with used products, showing what happens to the products they used afterward”.
