NTT docomo business, in cooperation with Grid Skyway LLC and Kansai Electric Power Transmission and Distribution, successfully conducted a demonstration experiment of automated patrol of power infrastructure using the Skydio Dock for X10 drone port.
The demonstration confirmed that unmanned patrols are possible from a single drone port installed at a substation within Kansai Electric Power’s transmission and distribution area, even when flying over different environments and objectives: “objects within the substation” and “power lines and towers.” This is expected to contribute to the efficiency of future infrastructure maintenance.
Inspections of critical infrastructure such as substations and widespread power lines and towers require high levels of expertise and significant time and effort, making efficiency and labor-saving efforts essential.
