In overseas markets, North America (APAC) saw a decrease in revenue, but the transfer of fixed assets to NTT DC REIT resulted in overall operating revenue of ¥1.4375 trillion (an increase of ¥66.3 billion from the previous fiscal year).
In terms of operating profit, the Japanese market saw an increase in the financial and corporate segments, but a decrease in the public and social infrastructure segments. Overall, operating profit was ¥80.5 billion (a decrease of ¥5.5 billion from the previous fiscal year).
Including the transfer of fixed assets to NTT DC REIT, operating profit in overseas markets was 175.7 billion yen (an increase of 128.2 billion yen from the previous period).
The data center business is expanding steadily, with investments of US$962 million made through the first half of the year.
President Sasaki Yutaka stated, “We will continue to recycle cash using REITs, and promote sustainable growth through investments utilizing third-party capital such as joint ventures.”
To achieve the NTT DATA Group’s goal of “Quality Growth,” the company will strengthen its efforts in “AI-Empowered New Value & Productivity” and “NEXT-Gen Infrastructure” in addition to its four existing core business portfolios (“Consulting,” “IT Services,” “DC & Connectivity,” and “Technology Solutions”).
In “AI-Empowered New Value & Productivity,” the company will lead the social implementation of AI agents, improving productivity and creating optimal new value in a variety of industries.
“NEXT-Gen Infrastructure” will leverage the company’s unique full-stack business portfolio to provide next-generation infrastructure that combines data centers and IT services.
To achieve this, the company aims to achieve Quality Growth by strengthening collaboration with a variety of partners and engaging in M&A aimed at providing industry-specific AI and full-stack value.
As part of this, NTT DATA will establish a new company in Silicon Valley in November with the mission of driving the expansion of the AI business. The new company will create AI businesses with a small, elite team of highly skilled AI personnel and collaborate with Silicon Valley AI vendors and AI startups, aiming to solve customers’ management challenges and contribute to their business success.
It will also contribute to the utilization of AI throughout the NTT Group.
President Sasaki explains, “AI is evolving rapidly, so it is important to have a firm grasp of global-level technology. The new company will consider how to utilize LLM developed by big tech vendors, or how to provide small-sized AI such as Tsuzumi. The new company will be run by several dozen employees with specialized knowledge, and its role will be to pass on cutting-edge AI and AI implementation skills to NTT DATA and other NTT Group business companies. The final delivery will be made by the business companies.”
