NTT West and Ritsumeikan University Jointly Develop Generative AI for Education

NTT West and Ritsumeikan University will jointly develop and begin utilizing generative AI for education, aiming to comprehensively enhance “individually optimized learning” and “collaborative learning” for all learners at the Ritsumeikan Academy, including children, pupils, students, and alumni.

This initiative is a concrete development based on the “Academy Vision R2030,” which forms the basis of the partnership agreement on the “Socially Connected Campus” concept concluded in August 2020.

In addition to approximately 50,000 children, pupils, and students, over 400,000 alumni will be registered as members using LinkU-ID and considered learners at the Ritsumeikan Academy. These learners will then be comprehensively enhanced with “individually optimized learning,” which fosters inclusive learning without leaving anyone behind, and “collaborative learning,” which maximizes the diversity of individuality, as outlined by the Central Council for Education (Elementary and Secondary Education Subcommittee).
Regarding “individually optimized learning,” we will provide a system for “individually optimized learning” by organically linking generative AI, e-textbooks, LMS, and each learner’s competencies, thereby personalizing learning.

For “collaborative learning,” we will see learners take a proactive approach to “learning” and develop an awareness and enthusiasm for applying what they learn to their lives and society. To this end, we will view the Ritsumeikan Academy, made up of children, pupils, and alumni, as one society, and will create platforms for interaction between current students and alumni, or between alumni themselves, and for younger students to consider their own careers by learning from the paths of their predecessors.
