OPTiM and Kyuden Drone Service have developed  “dead tree detection AI service”

This service aims to improve the sophistication and efficiency of dead tree survey work by automatically detecting dead trees using AI.

Based on visible images and NDVI images taken by drone aerial photography, the management software automatically detects dead tree locations through image analysis and visualizes them on a map.

By specifying a distance between two points on the management software, the height information of the ortho image can be compared with the height of the Geospatial Information Authority of Japan to calculate the slope angle and height of dead trees.

At the time of automatic ortho generation, the elevation map data is reflected along with the results of the AI analysis.

In recent years, natural disasters such as heavy rains and typhoons have become more frequent and severe, and there have been a series of devastating disasters caused by previously unimaginable landslides and fallen tree accidents.
Kyuden Drone Service has previously offered a service to detect dead trees at an early stage, leading to the prevention of falling tree accidents. However, when the target area was wide, detecting dead trees took a lot of time and effort.
To address this issue, by combining this with OPTiM’s AI analysis technology, the company has developed a new “Dead Tree Detection AI Service” that enables automatic detection of dead trees on management software.
