NTT docomo solutions is working with NTT docomo business to promote the construction DX solution “General Contractor Collaboration” for the construction industry. One of General Contractor Collaboration’s functions is the “AI inspection service (gas pressure welding joint appearance inspection).”
This is a service that aims to improve the efficiency of on-site work and shorten work time.
At construction sites, buildings are built using concrete strengthened with rebar. Since the length of the rebar that can be loaded onto a truck is fixed, when building a high-rise building, rebar is joined to rebar on-site. One method of joining is gas pressure welding joints. This method is the most commonly used on-site because it ensures strength at low cost.
Gas compression joints are installed manually by skilled personnel. Since the quality varies depending on the skill level of the installer, precise inspection is required for quality control. Inspection is also done manually.
The “AI Inspection Service (Gas Pressure Welding Joint Visual Inspection)” makes it easy to carry out such inspections using AI.
By simply taking a photo of the rebar with a smartphone or tablet, the AI will determine in real time where the pressure welding will take place. If you input the site information and inspection location information in advance, you can print a report immediately after the inspection.
“The features of this service are that it is simple, fast, and convenient. It does not require special equipment, is easy to use, and the inspection results can be checked immediately. Reports can also be created automatically,” explains Reiko Azuma of the Enterprise Solutions Business Division at NTT docomo solutions.
Calculating the effectiveness from past implementation cases, it is said that it is possible to reduce operations by about 89%.
During the summer, when the heatwaves continue, there is a demand for efficiency and shortening of on-site work from the perspective of safety management, such as measures against heatstroke.
From this perspective, the service is also effective as a measure against heatstroke.
Prices start from several tens of thousands of yen per site per month.
