Time for Data Space to Take a Leap NTT DATA

NTT DATA has been rolling out a comprehensive data integration solution called “X-Curia” since July 2025, supporting data integration and utilization between companies and other data space initiatives being built in various industries.
Data Space is a digital infrastructure that realizes safe and flexible data integration between companies.
Senior specialist Masaru Dobashi of the company’s Technology Innovation Headquarters explains, “By establishing common rules through Data Space, a high-speed and secure data integration system will be established. This is the key point of Data Space”.
Since the 1990s, the emergence of the Internet has removed various restrictions and created freedom. Access to data and connectivity have improved dramatically, but at the same time, concerns have grown about data monopoly by large IT companies and the inability to control one’s own data. In other words, concerns about data sovereignty are currently growing, and as a result, we are in a situation where social systems and business infrastructures that are free but difficult to use are proliferating.
Data Space is a movement to solve these issues, and it is attracting worldwide attention.
By developing data spaces, data owners will be able to control how their data is used and where it is stored. It will also be possible to work together as a society to optimize costs, and to optimize costs in economic spheres.
Dobashi says, “This will greatly improve mid- to long-term cost performance and the efficiency of economic activity, so it will be an opportunity to revitalize our economic sphere”.
NTT DATA is promoting “X-Curia,” packaging technology and rule-making methods, with the aim of building an economically rational and reliable data link layer on top of the “freedom” brought about by the Internet. We provide consistent support from consulting on data spaces to the introduction of solutions.
Dobashi says, “Currently, data-related technology has matured, and social recognition is spreading. System design is also progressing. The foundation for challenging new businesses based on data is just beginning to be laid”.
It is said that demonstrations and introductions are already underway in multiple industries. The company aims for sales of 50 billion yen by 2030.
