NTT East, NTT DATA, and Storyline, a startup from Tohoku University, will open a facility called “Wellness Lounge” that utilizes cutting-edge technology at NTT East’s Hatsudai headquarters on Monday, May 19th.
This facility is a data-driven facility that will continuously support the mind and body of users. Demonstrations will be carried out to improve life performance.
Specifically, health conditions will be grasped in real time using sensing and other methods, and recommendations will be made based on that.
Fumitake Sato, General Manager of the Sales Strategy Promotion Department of the Business Development Headquarters of NTT East, said, “As an initiative for regional well-being, we want to aim for a well-being and wellness business that each individual can feel. Through this facility, we will clarify what kind of business and service people can feel and implement in society.”
The Wellness Lounge is made up of three spaces: “KAGEROU,” “HINATA,” and “KOKAGE.”
Takashi Yano, head of the Strategic Design Office, Insurance IT Services Division, Third Financial Business Headquarters, NTT Data, explains, “You can experience the latest technology that stimulates the five senses, and spending time in this space naturally improves your well-being.”
At KAGEROU, the health condition of the user is identified from the facial expression and tone of voice, and coffee with controlled caffeine is served according to that condition. This coffee is by Storyline, and uses technology developed by Tohoku University to extract caffeine from coffee beans.
Snacks suited to each health condition are also available.
HINATA is a space with the theme of awakening. It is a space that enhances the sense of elation and concentration of the person about to start work.
Here, you can experience personalized aromas and more. Personalized aromas sense the user’s condition and suggest a scent that suits them. The scent brings them closer to a state of awakening.
KOKAGE is a dimly lit space where you can relax just by being there. The theme is “taking a little rest” and “sleeping a little.”
For example, you can take a nap while listening to neuromusic that affects your brain waves, or you can enter a deeply sedated state by meditating. You can also experience virtual forest bathing.
Sato says, “First of all, we want to address the well-being of office workers. We will understand the real needs of people who have health issues at work and turn this into a business. In the future, we would like to provide services that cater to local governments and companies, not just individuals”.
