Tourism DX using NTT QONOQ, ‘s AR technology, collaboration with popular manga Nakano City, Nagano Prefecture, collaborates with NTT East and NTT Smart Connect

Nakano City, Nagano Prefecture, is collaborating with NTT East Nagano Branch and NTT Smart Connect to use NTT QONOQ, ‘s AR technology to develop a collaborative digital content (AR) called “Rent-A-Girlfriend x Nakano City” using manga by popular Nakano City-born manga artist Reiji Miyajima, provided by Kodansha, from December 8th.

In order to create new tourist destinations and strengthen the appeal of tourist destinations, Nakano City is promoting “tourism DX” efforts to improve the quality of tourism services using digital technology, but the number of visitors to tourist destinations in the city, which once exceeded 700,000 people per year, has decreased to about 410,000 people in 2023 due to the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.
To further promote tourism, the city has enlisted the cooperation of Reiji Miyajima and has decided to consider and implement a tie-up with a tourism solution utilizing AR technology, as proposed by NTT East.
