Aeronext and its Mongolian expansion partner, Newcom Group, announced that two lives were saved by an emergency blood delivery by drone between the National Blood Transfusion Center and the Mongolian Japan Hospital attached to the National University of Medical Sciences of Mongolia (Mongolian Japan Hospital), carried out by Newcom Group’s MSDD (Mongolia Smart Drone Delivery) operations team.
This blood delivery came in response to an emergency call from the Japan-Mongolia Hospital reporting a shortage of blood for surgery, and a dedicated logistics drone delivered the transfusion blood in about 13 minutes over a distance of 4.75 kilometers one way.
Chronic traffic congestion and fragile road infrastructure are social issues in Mongolia, which also pose challenges in terms of transporting medical supplies.
