NTT Data will provide Lawson with its digital store operation service “Catch & Go,” and Lawson will open a walk-through payment store “Lawson Go” in Tokyu Futako Tamagawa Station for a limited time from October 18 to March 14 next year, where customers can shop smoothly without waiting in line at the register.
Unlike self-checkout stores, Lawson Go does not require customers to wait in line at the register and scan product barcodes. Customers simply hold their QR code, which has been set as the payment method in advance, over the entrance gate, pick up the product they want, and leave the store to automatically complete the cashless payment, meeting the needs of station users who want to complete their shopping in a short time.
As the operation does not require cashiering, it reduces the workload of employees and contributes to solving issues such as labor shortages faced by the distribution retail industry.
The Catch & Go being offered this time is a newly developed “Catch & Go package store” with standardized store size and equipment layout. It has made it possible to reduce system implementation costs compared to previous systems and open a store in a short construction period of about 1-2 weeks. Three different plans are available.
In addition, a new store entry app that runs on LINE has been developed, eliminating the need to install a dedicated native app, which was previously required, allowing even first-time users to use the store comfortably.
