Fujitsu to Use AI Analysis to Create Comfortable Restroom Space

Fujitsu will use millimeter-wave radar analysis AI to conduct a demonstration experiment in the barrier-free restrooms of Aeon Mall Ota, a shopping mall operated by Aeon Mall, to detect falls and other accidents early and to detect long-term use of the restroom.

In the demonstration experiment, millimeter-wave radar will be installed in the barrier-free restrooms in the facility to detect abnormal situations such as falls in the restroom and grasp the utilization rate of each facility while respecting privacy.

In addition, the frequency of use and occupancy rate of each area will be collected and verification will be conducted with the aim of creating a better restroom space for users.

Since January of this year, Fujitsu and TOTO have been conducting demonstration experiments using millimeter-wave radar analysis AI to monitor spaces where privacy is particularly important, such as barrier-free restrooms installed in commercial facilities and train stations, and are working together to create public restroom spaces where everyone can feel safe.

At Aeon Mall Ota, unexpected accidents such as falls in barrier-free restrooms have been an issue.

The two companies have begun demonstration experiments in order to ensure greater safety by early detection of abnormal situations.
