Japanese ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT) launches open data in the transport sector

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT) is launching “Project LINKS,” a project to develop, utilize and open data in the land, infrastructure and transport sector.
A website (https://www.mlit.go.jp/links/) will be launched to disseminate information on project results and events, and the project’s progress will be continuously reported. At the same time, the website will publicize the open data of various data that utilizes administrative information, and development events that utilize open data.

Project LINKS is a cross-sectoral DX promotion project that aims to promote data-based policymaking (EBPM) and create new businesses (open innovation) by reconstructing various administrative information that has not been used until now as “data” that can be machine-read and used for secondary purposes, and making this information available.
MLIT is holding an event called “LINKS:DATA x Hackathon – A Challenge to Use Open Data in the Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism Sector” to create new services and content using open data. The kickoff event will be held in September, followed by an ideathon in October and a hackathon in November.
