NTT docomo spins out web3 business
NTT docomo has decided to spin out “Sound Desert,” a service that uses web3 technology proposed by employees through the NTT Docomo Group’s new business creation program “docomo STARTUP” to provide total support for creators’ digital content, from planning to production and sales.
NTT docomo employee Sohei Okui has been appointed president and CEO of CrossVision, which operates “Sound Desert,” and the service will begin operations on the 1st (Sat). Investments in CrossVision will come from Zeroichi Capital, Light Up Ventures, and NTT docomo.
“Sound Desert” began demonstration experiments in March last year as a service for the primary sale of music NFTs. The company conducted testing with a wide range of creators, including over 70 music groups, and over 300 illustrators, music artists, and VTubers, and then spun out into CrossVision to begin offering commercial services.
