AI skills are more important than work experience when hiring Microsoft and LinkedIn survey
Microsoft and LinkedIn have released the 2024 WorkTrend Index, a report that reveals how AI is impacting work styles and the labor market based on a survey of 31,000 people in 31 countries including Japan.
The study found that an increasing number of employees want to use AI in the workplace and are unwilling to wait for companies to prepare.
Currently, 75% of knowledge workers are using AI in their work. People say AI helps them save time (90%), focus on the most important tasks (85%), be more creative (84%), and enjoy their work more (83%). are listed.
Most managers agree that AI is essential, but find it difficult to move quickly due to pressure to show immediate ROI.
79% of managers agree that implementing AI is essential to staying competitive. On the other hand, 59% are concerned about quantifying AI’s productivity gains.
It was also found that 78% of users bring their own AI tools to work (BYOAI).
The reason behind BYOAI is that work is increasing faster than employees’ abilities. 68% of employees said they felt burdened by the pace or amount of work they were doing, and 46% felt burnt out.
Email overload continues, with 85% of emails being read within 15 seconds, and in a typical case, approximately 4 emails need to be read for every email sent.
71% of managers say they would rather hire a less experienced candidate with AI skills than an experienced candidate without them.
