According to research by the Australian National University, there are 7,000 languages in the world, half of which are at risk of extinction. Many languages have actually disappeared. Looking at the ranking of languages spoken in the world, English is number one, followed by Chinese. Japanese ranked 13th. It ranks 13th out of 7,000 languages, so it’s in the top group, but as the population decreases, the ranking will likely drop. By the way, Korean ranks 20th, with 82 million people speaking it. I hope the Japanese language isn’t in danger of disappearing 100 or 200 years from now. (Kei)
