Ensuring soundness and growing business NTT West

北村社長(President Kitamura)

Ryota Kitamura, president of NTT West, held a press conference on April 1st to announce his inauguration as president, and outlined his future policies and aspirations.
As for his management philosophy, he quotes Eiichi Shibusawa’s ” There is no economy without morality” and ” There is no morality without economy.”

” My interpretation is that it is important to ensure the soundness of a company by strengthening corporate ethics, compliance, and governance, and to strive for business growth while maintaining the aspiration to be useful to the world by solving social issues and creating value. I believe that by achieving these two things at the same time, we will be able to establish a stable business foundation and contribute to our company’s purpose ” realizing a sustainable society and economy”” .

The company has identified three pillars for its future management policy: (1) “Soundness as a company,” (2) “Solving social issues, creating value, and business growth,” and (3) “Establishing a stable management foundation.”
Regarding “corporate soundness,” NTT West will steadily implement reforms to our corporate culture, information management, and thorough reinforcement of security, and will place emphasis on ensuring that these efforts permeate all employees and the entire organization.
President Kitamura said, ” We will work to instill in our employees a high sense of ethics, a sense of responsibility, and a sense of ownership, increasing their loyalty and engagement with the company. As for our organization, we want to improve openness through diversity and inclusion. we want to create an organization that values collaboration while ensuring the psychological safety of its employees.”
By expanding the Zero Trust environment throughout the NTT West Group and centrally managing accounts and privileges, we will aim to improve the sophistication of monitoring and ensure thorough inspections. They are currently building a project structure and will officially launch the project in July.

In ” Solving social issues, creating value, and growing business,” IOWN APN’s efforts are cited.
The entire NTT West Group will focus on social implementation of APN. For example, at the 2025 Osaka/Kansai Expo, IOWN environment will be set up at the Yumeshima venue.
“Using the Osaka/Kansai Expo as a trigger, we will advance the social implementation of IOWN toward the realization of local production for local consumption, Web 3, data democratization, and a decentralized society in the future, contributing to the realization of a sustainable social economy ” (President Kitamura).

” Establishing a stable business foundation” focused on maximizing profits and strengthening cost competitiveness by upgrading existing assets.
President Kitamura says, ” We want to maintain and expand our customer base and maintain our share of optical broadband services.”
By expanding the area of FLET’S Hikari Cross, which has communication speeds of up to 10 Gigabits/sec, and providing high value-added services such as security and maintenance support, we will strengthen our competitiveness and aim to recover the pace of net increase in optical fiber and increase ARPU. They are determined to improve.
NTT West will also focus on corporate business. NTT West has recognized the trend from on-premises to cloud and has trained around 1,000 cloud personnel.
In the future, as it is expected that cloud computing will accelerate in government, educational institutions, etc., they will promote cloud-managed services with high added value.
NTT West  will also focus on creating new businesses and fostering the foundations for future growth.
President Kitamura stated, ”The key to new business is discernment. We will move forward while making clear decisions about entry and exit”.
