Aiming to expand Japanese entertainment globally and expand tourism experiences, NTT West launches demonstration experiment using audio AR

Aiming to realize a recycling-oriented society and a sustainable primary industry, NTT West will focus on the audio value of artists and anime, and on March 1st, NTT West will develop audio AR, which is highly developed in Japan and overseas, without relying on the environment. A demonstration experiment aimed at expanding both ”global expansion of Japanese entertainment” and ”tourist experience and enjoyment of tourists” using ”Japanese entertainment” has begun around Osaka Kyobashi Station, including Hirakata Park and the Osaka Castle area.
This demonstration experiment utilizes cross-lingual speech synthesis technology (NTT Human Information Laboratories) that can synthesize speech into English, Mandarin, Cantonese, and Korean, and the Sound AR service “Locatone” (Sony). Explore new entertainment possibilities.
By combining Locatone with cross-lingual speech synthesis technology, they provide content where when you visit a specific spot on a map, you can automatically hear audio in multiple languages in conjunction with your location information.
The content of the project is to convert Japanese voices recorded by members of Sakurazaka46 into Chinese content based on the individual’s voice quality, and provide the content in both Japanese and Chinese in the Osaka Kyobashi area. In addition to Japanese content, Chinese content will also be provided at events scheduled to be held within Hirakata Park.
They will also examine the possibility of improving the value of entertainment facilities and local tourism resources, as well as promoting local tours for visitors to Japan.
