NTT East Saitama Branch and Sato Sakae Gakuen held Japan’s first class (Sleep Tech Project) that uses sleep data to explore optimal individual sleep improvements.
Japanese people are said to have the shortest amount of sleep in the world for both adults and children, and the amount of sleep for elementary school students has been decreasing year by year over the past 30 years. Furthermore, since children’s sleep is closely related to various aspects of their development, there are concerns that lack of sleep can cause poor physical condition, fatigue, lower self-esteem, and affect brain development.
Both companies use sleep measurement devices to acquire sleep data with the aim of ”cultivating the ability of children who are entering society to maintain a healthy foundation (head, heart, and body) on their own”. They conducted sleep education that explores individual optimal sleep improvement based on data, without relying on sensations or experience.
