Generative AI supports hearing difficulties Microsoft Japan
Microsoft Japan published a story about how the app “YYSystem” developed by Aisin is improving the life experience of people with LiD/APD.
“YYSystem (https://yysystem.com/)” developed by Aisin is an application series that recognizes speech and converts it into text. It is used by all kinds of people with communication difficulties, including people with hearing impairments, but Microsoft’s Azure OpenAI Service ( https://azure.microsoft.com/ja-jp/products /ai-services/openai-service)’s summary function is said to be useful for people with LiD/APD (Difficulty of Hearing Disorder/Auditory Information Processing Disorder).
Because LiD/APD is not well-known in Japan, those affected tend to feel isolated and isolated, and it is said that it is difficult for them to continue working or participate in daily conversations.
Generative AI tools are built on large-scale language models (LLMs) that synthesize large amounts of data to generate text, code, images, and more. Such tools can not only generate text but also summarize it.
Aisin’s R&D team initially developed YYProbe as a speech-to-text transcription tool for employees to create business records. One day, when the company’s hearing-impaired employees used the app, the app was well-received, so they decided to develop it as a tool that could be used not only by the hearing-impaired, but by all people with communication difficulties.
