Column Kohkanki

At the end of November, three robbers broke into a precious metals store in Ueno. The store clerk put up a resistance, and the trio ran away without taking anything. I saw a video on NHK News of a group of three being chased by a store employee and running away with their bodies flattened. It looks like the video was taken by a viewer. Personally, I approve of the store staff’s response. I almost want to applaud them for a job well done. Working people do not have to submit to criminals. In a sense, it is natural to take revenge on someone who hurts you and causes you damage. I wonder if that video will change the way people treat criminals. (Kei)
