Automatic detection of drifting noise Uruma City, Okinawa Prefecture and TOPPAN Digital

Uruma City, Okinawa Prefecture and TOPPAN Digital are holding discussions with Uruma Police Station and the Nakagusuku Bay Shinko District Industrial Park in order to curb dangerous driving behavior such as drifting that is occurring in the Nakagusuku Bay Shinko District Industrial Park. In cooperation with the association, we will conduct a demonstration experiment of automatic noise detection during drift driving until the end of March next year.
In the demonstration, an AI noise automatic detection system developed by TOPPAN Digital will be used to collect sounds from the target base and compare them with the noise patterns that the system has learned using AI to determine and detect noise.
The detected information is managed in the cloud and shared with Uruma City and Uruma Police Station. In the future, each agency will use this data to strengthen enforcement and other means with the aim of curbing dangerous driving behavior.
The Nakagusuku Bay Port Shinko District Industrial Park, which has vast industrial land, has been plagued by problems such as habitual illegal dumping and reckless behavior, creating costs and burdens in its management.
Although the police department is cracking down on dangerous driving behavior such as drifting that occurs at night, it is causing anxiety to residents in the surrounding areas and employees working at night in the industrial park, and is causing noise problems. It is connected to local issues.
TOPPAN Digital opened “ICT KOBO URUMA”, a next-generation DX development base, in Uruma City in June 2021, and in addition to system development business, TOPPAN Digital is working to support solving regional issues through business.
As part of this effort, the two companies have decided to jointly begin a demonstration experiment of automatic noise detection aimed at curbing dangerous driving behavior.
