NTT docomo entered into a capital and business alliance agreement with Monex Group and Monex Securities on October 4th. The aim is to build a new financial service model centered on asset formation services.
NTT docomo will acquire approximately 49% of the shares of the intermediate holding company that Monex will establish through a stock transfer, making Monex a consolidated subsidiary.
　　
NTT docomo President Motoyuki Ii said, “By leveraging docomo’s 96 million customer base and Monex Securities’ know-how, we would like to provide asset building services that are easy to use, even for first-time users” and  “We would like to further evolve our securities services by making full use of technologies such as generative AI,” he said.
Monex Group Chairman Dai Matsumoto said, “We believe this partnership is an epoch-making event in Japan.We want to play a leading role in a new Japan.We will work together with NTT docomo to improve the present and future of individual customers. We will support their lives and help them realize their dreams”.
　
Japanese government has set a goal of doubling the total number of accounts under the Small Investment Tax Exemption System (NISA) to 34 million and the investment amount to 56 trillion yen over the next five years.
Both companies believe that this will significantly change people’s money lives, and expect demand for new asset building services such as NISA to increase.
As a concrete initiative, NTT docomo and Monex will link interest payment and asset building services, which are often used on a daily basis, to reduce the complexity and burden when opening a securities account or using services. They also offer savings investment services for card users that allow them to accumulate d points. It will also be possible to receive d-points based on the amount invested and to purchase financial products using d-points.
