Utilizing drones in remote island port DX business NTT Data realizes Level 3 transoceanic flight
NTT Data has been the first company in Japan to achieve Level 3 cross-sea flight with an autonomous drone, without setting up an emergency landing point on land or at sea, in a contract for Tokyo’s remote island port DX project.
We verified the effectiveness of quickly confirming the disaster situation by using a VTOL fixed-wing UAV to fly autonomously following a preset flight route and photographing the coast while circling Oshima. The drone took off vertically from Izu, flew accurately autonomously across the ocean and around Izu Oshima for a total of 70 kilometers, and landed safely at Oshima’s Okada Port in about an hour.
