Applying AI to the development of fully circular bioadaptive materials that can be recycled The University of Tokyo and Hitachi
The University of Tokyo Graduate School of Engineering and Hitachi will apply Hitachi’s AI technology for materials informatics (MI) to develop fully circular bioadaptive materials that can be recycled into materials that come into contact with people, such as daily necessities and pharmaceuticals. They have started collaborative creation to
Today’s living environment is filled with polymeric materials such as bioadaptive materials, which are used in a variety of natural and biological environments due to their convenience, stability, and excellent physical properties.
This collaborative creation will combine the University of Tokyo’s know-how and experimental data regarding bioadaptive materials with Hitachi’s unique AI technology for MI to strengthen the bio/polymer database containing biocompatibility information. By utilizing big data, we aim to establish a method for creating biomaterials.
In the future, the University of Tokyo will advance the development of bioadaptive materials that are friendly to people and the earth, and promote the basic development of new biomaterials that have properties such as being quickly decomposed in the environment and not causing allergic reactions.
By applying the know-how cultivated through collaborative creation to the “material development solutions” provided as Lumada solutions, Hitachi will contribute to increasing the added value of products for users who handle biomaterials.
The two parties will promote industry-academia collaboration to create data-driven biomaterials, and aim to improve people’s QoL and realize a sustainable society through bioadaptive materials.
