Data center operation and maintenance using robots NTT Com

Togrus-DC

NTT Communications (NTT Com), Tokyo Robotics, NHN Tecorus, and E-MARK will begin a demonstration experiment on IT equipment operation and maintenance work at data centers using real-time remote control robots.
The test will target IT equipment in data centers used by NHN Tecoras in commercial environments, and will verify its effectiveness in operation and maintenance tasks such as checking server lamps. The robot will be operated remotely from E-MARK’s offices and operational bases.

Tokyo Robotics is in charge of robot development. ”Togrus-DC” a robot developed by the company that specializes in data center operation and maintenance, can run in narrow aisles of less than 1 meter. When the robot’s arm is folded, it fits within the size of a trolley.
It is designed specifically for data center monitoring, with the ability to open and close the aisle cap while supporting the weight of the camera, and the ability to zoom using the arm or pull to take pictures.

NTT Com will work on improving the environment in which robots can operate in order to improve the sophistication of data center services.
Junpei Maruyama, Chief Manager of the company’s Innovation Center, said, ”In the future, there will come a time when robots will work within data centers.By using robots, it will be possible to manage multiple data centers from an operational base, which will save labor.” We also believe that it will be possible to improve late-night work.Delays are an issue with remote control, but if you use IOWN’s APN, which the NTT Group is working on, you can reduce delays to as close to zero as possible, reducing stress. We want to create new value through robot services”.
