Smart Digital Transportation App Commercial Service Launched in Genova Hitachi
Hitachi Rail has signed a new contract with the traffic authority of the city of Genoa, Italy. As a result, the 360 Pass app, which Hitachi introduced to Genoa ahead of the rest of the world and connects the entire public transportation infrastructure of the city, will be open to 600,000 Genoa citizens and 3.5 million tourists who visit Genoa every year.
With this service, Genoa has 663 buses, 2,500 bus stops, a subway (15 million passengers a year), 2 funiculars, 1 mountain railway, 10 public elevators, Suburban buses (2 routes, 50 km long) will be digitally connected.
360Pass app provides passengers with the fastest and most convenient multimodal itinerary suggestions and real-time traffic information. You can check the congestion status of the buses through the app and select a bus that is not crowded.
It automatically detects when a user’s transportation cost reaches 17.5 euros (approximately 2,700 yen), which is the price of a one-week ticket, when using buses, trams, and subways within the city. From that point onwards, travel is free for the rest of the week and no further charges will be billed to the user. Passengers who use transit regularly can save a lot. For example, passengers who commute by bus and subway five days a week automatically save €12.50 (about ¥1900) each week.
