Meiwa Town and ABEJA signed a partnership agreement to utilize generated AI

On August 1, Meiwa Town, Mie Prefecture and ABEJA signed a “collaboration agreement on the formation of a digital society through the use of generative AI.”
ABEJA will collaborate with Meiwa Town to promote the realization of DX, which Meiwa Town is working on, with the aim of improving the services of the townspeople. ABEJA is going to do
Meiwa Town is promoting government DX as a response to the so-called “2040 problem” where the population decline and labor shortage are becoming apparent. Until now, they have been working on DX that utilizes digital and data, but they believe that the tide of DX has changed because of the social impact of generative AI.
Aiming to create a next-generation government office that utilizes generative AI, Meiwa town hopes to reduce staff overtime and realize diverse work styles regardless of location or time.
Tetsuya Sekoguchi, mayor of Meiwa Town, said, “Currently, the total population of the town is almost flat, but looking at the age division, the young population is declining and the elderly population is increasing. In other words, the population has entered a declining stage. In order to cope with the future population decline and environmental changes, we believe that it is essential to improve the services of townspeople through DX and simplify and streamline administrative work.Digital-based society, data-based society , we would like to cooperate in various fields related to general town development so that Meiwa can adapt to an AI-based society”.
