Hideo Kobayashi, a famous literary critic, argued that human beings cannot be understood through theory or reason, and believed that believing that anything could be explained scientifically would be a source of error. He was highly regarded as a literary critic, but on the other hand, he was criticized by some people in the literary world for living on his intuition alone. I myself live by relying on my intuition, and I don’t think that science can solve everything, so I have some sympathy with Kobayashi. In this era of science-only devotion, there may be a Hideo Kobayashi boom as a counter to that. (Kei)
