Collaborating with QPS Institute on Small SAR Satellite SKY Perfect JSAT
SKY Perfect JSAT and QPS Institute will collaborate on the operation of small SAR satellites developed by QPS Institute. Aiming for the early realization of a satellite constellation originating from a Japanese company.
SAR (Synthetic Aperture Radar) is a radar that obtains images of the ground surface using radio waves. The feature is that it can penetrate clouds and volcanic plumes and can be observed regardless of day or night.
A satellite constellation is a system that enables frequent earth observations using multiple satellites.
The construction of a small satellite constellation that can periodically and automatically observe a wide range of the earth is expected to be used in fields such as disaster prevention, environment, and security, and is said to play an important role in creating a sustainable society.
QPS Institute is planning aggressive satellite launches for early constellation construction. We are also building a constellation of 36 small SAR satellites with the aim of providing near-real-time ground observation data services every 10 minutes on average.
By entrusting satellite operations to SKY Perfect JSAT’s satellite control station, QPS Institute will be able to achieve more efficient and highly reliable satellite operations.
