Energy storage system in Kaharu-cho, Fukuoka NTT Anode Energy
NTT Anode Energy, Kyushu Electric Power Co., and Mitsubishi Corporation have installed a power storage system with an output of 1.4 MW and a capacity of 4.2 MWh in Kaharu-cho, Tagawa-gun, Fukuoka Prefecture, with the aim of making renewable energy the main power source and reducing renewable energy output control, and started full-scale operation.
Verification has begun at the Tagawa Power Station.
Specifically, in addition to reducing photovoltaic output control, we will verify the business feasibility of multi-use of grid storage batteries in various electric power markets such as the spot market, supply and demand adjustment market, and capacity market. In addition, we are conducting a trial to simultaneously achieve the same amount of renewable energy power generation and storage battery charging amount in remote areas, aiming to reduce the amount of solar power output control.
The three companies plan to provide supply capacity to the capacity market from FY2025 onwards, and will continue to conduct verification with a view to future business expansion as an initiative to contribute to the realization of a reduction in the amount of output control.
