The Tachikawa Chamber of Commerce and Industry, NTT East Japan, and Tachihi Holdings held the “Tachikawa Chamber of Commerce and Industry 70th Anniversary-Regional Exchange eSports Festival 2023” on July 19th.
About 100 member companies belonging to the Tachikawa Chamber of Commerce and Industry participated in the qualifying round in June with three teams each, and the 32 winning teams competed in the online game “Brostar” on smartphones.

Mr. Tomoya Hoshino of the Tachikawa Chamber of Commerce and Industry commented on this event, “Our main focus is on urban development using sports, and within that context, we held an e-sports tournament as a virtual sport. Including the qualifying rounds, about 100 teams and about 300 people participated. E-sports are effective not only for regional exchanges but also for exchanges between companies, and we would like to continue using e-sports to create movements.”
NTT East and Tachihi Holdings have been strengthening their cooperation for regional revitalization for the past two years, and have held two esports tournaments in Tachikawa City in the past.
Takeshi Hagino of NTT East’s Tokyo West Branch said, “Esports competitions are not only exciting for children and parents, but also between companies. Horizontal ties between companies are also created. By activating horizontal ties, it will be easier for new businesses to be born. We want to create a system for monetization as well as enjoyment as a lively area. I feel that such an image is gradually being formed through esports competitions.”
Tachihi Holdings is a real estate company that will celebrate its 100th anniversary next year. We are also focusing on the promotion of arts, culture and sports, and are also focusing on e-sports.
