Local 5G effective at construction sites NTT East Tokyo, NTT Broadband Platform, Ando Hazama
NTT East Tokyo, NTT Broadband Platform and Ando Hazama conducted a joint demonstration experiment using local 5G at a construction site, and obtained the result that the use of local 5G is effective for an optimal wide-area high-speed wireless environment.
It was confirmed that one local 5G base station can cover a wide-area excavation construction site of about 200 meters x about 100 meters and about 20 meters deep. Specifically, a stable throughput of several hundred megabits per second was obtained on both the uplink and downlink of local 5G communication at a distant point with a line of sight to the antenna.
Even on excavated surfaces where the antenna cannot be seen due to obstacles such as steel frames, local 5G communication has confirmed a throughput of about 100 Mbit/s for both uplink and downlink.
Confirmed stable throughput of local 5G all the time without being affected by the movement of trucks and heavy machinery. Applications and 4K cameras could be used comfortably at all local 5G connection points. They also confirmed that the local 5G equipment and equipment storage box operate stably for a long period of time in a construction site environment.
