Autonomous multi-hop network with Wi-SUN FAN Kyoto University and Nisshin Systems
Kyoto University and Nisshin Systems have installed 400 wireless devices on the campus of Kyoto University as a communication test in a large-scale high-density wireless device using the international wireless communication standard Wi-SUN FAN (Field Area Network). Confirmation of autonomous multi-hop network construction of wireless equipment and communication test were carried out. We installed 400 radios (292 outdoors, 108 indoors) in a 68,000 square meter area of the university campus, and successfully confirmed the construction of an autonomous multi-hop network for all radios and conducted a communication test. Regarding the installation location, we did not design in advance, and installed it densely so that transmission and reception can be performed with sufficient power between wireless devices. In addition, during the test period, continuous operation was performed for two days.
Each wireless device was placed in the shadow or behind multiple buildings, but Wi-SUN FAN’s autonomous multi-hop network construction function automatically constructed a network that bypasses obstacles. and confirmed that the radios installed within range were accommodated by the network.
In addition, it was confirmed that each wireless device considered and changed the network configuration so as to improve the communication success rate according to the installation environment. With this function, when constructing a sensor network in an urban area, even if changes occur that have a large impact on wireless routes, such as the construction of new buildings or changes in street divisions, the wireless multi-hop network can respond to such changes. can be automatically constructed.
