Recreating the old Kaburenjo in the Metaverse space NTT Urban Development and NTT Smart Connect
NTT Urban Development and NTT Smart Connect used the virtual space platform “DOOR” to reproduce the former Miyagawa-cho Kaburenjo, which was dismantled last year, in the Metaverse space and open it to the public.
In the Metaverse space, there will be video content that participants can enjoy, such as archive footage of the “71st Kyoto Odori” shot with a 360-degree camera at the Kaburenjo before it was dismantled, as well as videos of geisha and maiko rehearsals. You can experience it. You can also see the daily life of Hanamachi culture, such as the make-up of Maiko, as VR content.
Construction of the former Kaburenjo, which was built in 1916, began in July last year as part of the former Shindo Elementary School Site Plan. The new building utilizes some of the materials and inherits the design of the large roof that has become a symbol of Miyagawa-cho, Kyoto.
