Peer pressure and moral Yuichi Inukai(The professor of Nihon University )

One foreign student came to my laboratory.
He who came from the country cooler than Japan seems to have the painful heat of summer in Japan. He insists why we have to wear an mask in Japan.

The word “Peer pressure” occurs immediately on my mind. Mask wear is not duty in Japan. We are not punished even if we do not wear mask.

However, everybody is wearing the mask in Japan. This is a kind of unwritten law.

Probably, “Peer pressure” will be important for the Japanese.
Why?
This is my guess. The rules is working for Japanese society not as a law but as morality and ethics.

It will be mask morality if it says.

It is also a fact that there are people who feel such as strong peer pressure in Japan.
