The teleplay of “Thank you” which TBS broadcast at the first half of the 1970s had the rings which recorded the viewership of 50% or more.

“Flower of the Japanese radish” which NET (TV Asahi) broadcast in the same days and time zone was also popular drama. The viewership was 30%.

It means that 80% of the living room of Japan had viewed and listened to one of dramas.

The current teleplay is considered as big hits, if viewership 10% is exceeded.

It is shown that many televiewers separated from the teleplay during the half century .

Time shifted viewing is already natural now. Some people enjoy the teleplay by DVD or subscription. It is not necessary to sit on the TV front in the time zone broadcast.

This has given us the origin problem what TV broadcasting is. It is the 1920s that broadcast was born. TV broadcasting was a media which we enjoyed contents always anywhere. Therefore, the listeners and the televiewers gathered in front of the terminal machine.

The way to enjoy contents is not limited to the radio wave now. We need to redefine the media called TV broadcasting.

What is new definitions of TV broadcasting?

I got one experience which feels one likelihood several years ago. It was the teleplay “Escaping is helpful, although it is shame ” in TBS at 2016. This drama makes Tsunami Umino comics the original. Unno had posted the comment of that drama to the air time by Twitter. Many Umino fan also posted, and they enjoyed that drama with the original author Umino. A kind of joint viewing and listening was developed. Such joint viewing and listening can participate only by seeing on an air time belt.

The viewership of the level of 10% is wretched number compared with the popular drama of 1970s. Millions of people are still enjoying the same contents as the same time zone. TV broadcasting enjoys a contents by the regular time.

It may be uncomfortable. On the other hand, It enable huge numbers of joint viewing-and-listening experiences. Isn’t there contemporary direction of TV broadcasting just in the legal force which makes it take the same action as the same time?
