NTT Security Japan has released “OT Network Asset Discovery”, a service specializing in asset ledger creation support, which is the first step of “OT security measures” to protect control systems such as factories and plants from cyber security threats.
In recent years, with the development of corporate DX, the number of OT systems connected to the Internet has increased even in factories, increasing the possibility of cyber attacks. In fact, even in Japan, damage from cyber-attacks is increasing not only for large companies, but also for small and medium-sized companies, including attacks represented by ransomware such as “WannaCry” and “Snake”. Damage to the ordering party due to the suspension is actually occurring.
“OT Network Asset Discovery” supports quick asset ledger creation with the minimum necessary functions. In addition to extracting the managed device list, it is possible to estimate the device type, OS version, IP address allocation method, services in use, etc., and obtain asset information that is the basis for creating an asset ledger.
Based on the output data, users can create an asset ledger, find and remove unnecessary physical devices that cause security risks in the factory, prepare for proper operation of security patches, prepare for network-level countermeasures, etc.
