Establishment of basic technology for grid-connected energy management between data centers in multiple areas TEPCO Power Grid and Hitachi
TEPCO Power Grid and Hitachi will jointly conduct demonstration experiments aimed at optimizing the power supply and demand balance in the power system and realizing effective use of renewable energy to achieve carbon neutrality. We have established basic technology for grid-connected energy management that utilizes load distribution control.
In the demonstration experiment, a container-type data center in Ibaraki Prefecture and a server room in Tokyo were connected, and in accordance with adjustment requests based on power supply and demand simulation data, the computational load of the data center was spatially shifted, and the computational load within the area was changed. Time shift and DER (Distributed Energy Source) control such as air conditioning in the data center were performed.
As a result, we succeeded in establishing a “basic technology” for energy management through distributed control in data centers.
