Sharing measures of domestic and overseas group companies 10th NTT Group Sustainability Conference

NTT held  “10th NTT Group Sustainability Conference” at the Palace Hotel Tokyo on Monday, 12th, and held an award ceremony.
This conference aims at new value creation and global sustainability. By introducing and sharing measures that contribute to a sustainable society that NTT Group companies in Japan and overseas are working on, the purpose is to spread awareness that NTT Group’s sustainable management is their own business.
This year’s conference, which is in its 10th year, received 113 entries, the highest number ever, from which 6 Grand Prizes and 6 Excellence Awards were selected. In addition, the company that gave the most excellent presentation out of the 6 best prizes was awarded as “Today’s MVP”.
  
The following six projects were selected for the Grand Prize.
①NTT DATA Business Solutions (Germany) “Construction of medical supplies supply chain using drones – Challenge in Malawi to realize lifesaving and job creation”

②NTT Nihilent (India) and NTT Innovation Laboratory Israel (Israel) “Realization of a perfect pharmaceutical procurement system using an optimal inventory forecasting model – Construction of a management solution that protects people and the environment by controlling the disposal of unused medicines -“

③NTT Ltd (Belgium) “Improvement of Recycle Park Convenience (UX) with AI – Realization of Smart Cycle Solution through Real-Time Detection of Container Filling Rate -“

④ NTT East – South Kanto “Realization of sustainable fisheries support by fishery DX and freshness visualization-development of ISUMI model by community-based fishery DX-“

⑤”Realization of a carbon-neutral society through forestry and forestry DX-Realization of a resource recycling society-” by NTT West / Regional Revitalization Co Design Laboratory

⑥NTT DATA’s “New form of energy self-sufficiency – Green BPO center of ‘public-private unity x local production for local consumption’ utilizing on-site PPA”

The examination was conducted by senior executives of NTT Group companies. The evaluation items are “contribution to solving social issues”, “contribution to corporate growth”, “uniqueness of  NTT Group”, “matching with stakeholder needs”, “continuity of business”, “external appeal”, and “presentation”. It is 7 points of “easy to understand”.
As a result of the examination, this time, three companies, NTT DATA Business Solutions, NTT Ltd, and NTT West Regional Revitalization Co Design Research Institute, were awarded “Today’s MVP”.
  
NTT President Akira Shimada said, “NTT Group recently announced its medium-term management strategy, and the major pillar of that strategy is to make sustainability our business. I want to create a world where people can live sustainably.This conference will be a driving force for creating something of value and creating a sustainable society.The measures announced today in 10 years will be , I think it would be nice if we could hold a meeting where everyone can talk about how big they’ve become.”
  
NTT Group Sustainability Conference started in 2012. The top prize in 2012 was NTT DATA’s emergency medical solution. NTT Data provided the city of Takamatsu with a solution in which necessary data were entered in advance on a tablet before the patient was placed in the ambulance and sent to the recipient. About 10 years later, this solution has been introduced throughout Kagawa Prefecture.
The grand prize in 2013 was the digital archive project of old books owned by the Vatican Library developed by NTT DATA. This project is still ongoing, and in Japan, it is developing into a digital archive of valuable historical materials related to Buddhism and esoteric Buddhism held by Koyasan University.
Efforts that were evaluated at this conference have since been put into practical use and are steadily permeating society.
