Started research and development of RaaS platform The university of Tokyo, RIKEN、Hitachi
The university of Tokyo, RIKEN, Advantest, Toppan Printing, Hitachi Ltd., and Miraise Technologies have started research and development of new advanced system technology in the Advanced System Technology Research Association (RaaS).
RaaS research and development goal is to increase the development efficiency of dedicated chips by ten times and at the same time to increase the energy efficiency by ten times.
First, in order to improve development efficiency, we will research and develop an agile design method that can quickly design dedicated chips.
Development cost is an issue in designing and manufacturing dedicated chips, but RaaS’s new initiative will research and develop a next-generation advanced semiconductor development platform that can be shared by members. This will allow anyone to quickly design a dedicated chip and manufacture it with cutting-edge semiconductor technology.
In order to improve energy efficiency, the CMOS process of 7nm or later of the world’s mega foundries will be used to manufacture chips equipped with systems that members want to realize.
Utilizing the energy-efficient semiconductor chips developed in this way, each member develops and commercializes the system they want to realize.
