Ericsson supports the deployment of embedded 5G base stations deployed by KDDI and provide road-mounted antennas.
Buried base stations can be installed in existing underground spaces with fiber optic and power infrastructure in businesses and cities, and connected to antennas installed on the road surface. This allows rapid deployment without any visual impact on the street environment.
In Japan, many base stations have been installed on steel towers and on the roofs of buildings in order to realize high-speed and reliable mobile communication systems over a wide area. On the other hand, the installation of base stations is restricted in the Bikan area for landscape considerations.
Leveraging street-mounted antennas to provide robust connectivity in confined spaces such as manholes where fiber and power already exist where standard site installation is not possible. Antenna installed on the road surface also has the advantage of being less susceptible to wind loads.
