“CES2023 and IT Situation at US” ①
The world’s largest tech event “CES 2023” was held in Las Vegas, USA for four days from January 5th to 8th. Approximately 120,000 people attended the full-scale event for the first time in three years as the recovery from the corona disaster progressed.
CES was held in earnest for the first time in three years, but the content of the exhibition was just one word “distracted.” The organizer, CTA, cited “Metaverse,” “Electric Vehicles (EV),” and “Health Tech” as features of this year’s CES. No innovation was identified. Sony and Honda jointly developed the EV “AFEELA”, which became a hot topic when it was announced.
Incidentally, the CES Discovery Wall was set up at the CES venue, displaying real-time trends linked to Twitter. According to the results, the automotive technology attracted the most attention from the visitors, followed by “home entertainment hardware”, “AR/VR/XR” and “Metaverse”.
This year’s CES was disorganized and the exhibition content was difficult to find a direction, but on the other hand, it was of great significance as a starting point for recovering from the chaos of the corona disaster. Next year and the year after next, the next direction should emerge. So to speak, it is a distraction as a run-up period to determine the next. In fact, I was able to see some products and services that seemed to be budding.
One of them is an exhibition focusing on “Web3”. A “Web3 Studio” was set up at the CES venue, where companies related to Web3 introduced new technologies. The number of exhibits was still small, and the contents were strongly entertainment elements, but I felt the spirit of creating the next trend while fusing with the Metaverse and AR/VR/XR.
For example, Japanese company HARTi exhibited an NFT platform. A demonstration video of the app-type NFT platform “HARTi” was shown.
Hypervsn also introduced a 3D display that displays NFT works. A platform equipped with HYPERVSN SmartV digital avatar and HyperVSN Full Body Live-Streaming was exhibited.
The current Web3 related companies seem to be searching for cooperation with TV. Specifically, they would like to expand their Web3 business centering on smart TVs as elemental technologies for home entertainment.
By the way, regarding television, US startup Displace exhibited a wireless television. It has a 55-inch 4K screen and a unique battery system. It weighs 9 kilograms and is lightweight. It is portable and does not require installation. It can be easily fixed to surfaces such as walls and windows.
