Rakuten Group and the Sendai City Waterworks Bureau conducted a demonstration experiment of a water pipe bridge inspection survey using drones.
This demonstration experiment was conducted at a total of two locations in Sendai City, the Toshikawa Water Pipe Bridge and the Hasekura Bridge Aqueduct, as part of an initiative based on a comprehensive partnership agreement between Rakuten, Rakuten Baseball, and Sendai City.

Rakuten operated a drone, and using images and videos taken with a camera mounted on the aqueduct bridge of structural parts such as pipes and slings of the aqueduct bridge, together with the Sendai City Waterworks Bureau, confirmed the presence or absence of damage to the aqueduct bridge and its condition. In addition, we simulated the state of water leakage from the air valve of the Toshikawa water pipe bridge, and confirmed that the state of water leakage in the water pipe can be detected under certain conditions by infrared photography with a drone.
