NEC and the Virginia Tech Transportation Research Institute conducted a joint demonstration of using AI-based video analysis technology to notify drivers, pedestrians, and other road users around intersections of safety information and warnings. . A camera and video analysis equipment were installed on the signal pole of a test track owned by the Virginia Tech Transportation Research Institute, and the situation inside and outside the intersection was analyzed from the video data collected.
In the use case demonstrated this time, we succeeded in notifying the vehicle of the warning within 0.5 seconds, which is faster than the general reaction time after the driver senses the danger.
