Answering Children’s Simple Questions Dentsu Revamps Conversational AI Plush Toy

Dentsu has updated “Nande-chan,” a conversational AI plush toy designed to nurture children’s curiosity—specifically their “Why?” questions—and spark dialogue between children and their guardians. This update incorporates findings from a home-based field test conducted jointly by the Dentsu Group’s R&D unit, Dentsu Innovation Initiative, and the University of Tokyo. Rather than simply providing one-way answers to a child’s innocent “Why?” questions, “Nande-chan” offers an experience where they can think things through together through conversation.
An event titled “Summer Vacation ‘Why?’ Exhibition,” where visitors can experience interacting with “Nande-chan,” will be held at Daikanyama T-SITE in Tokyo from August 18 to August 31.
