Tokyo Metro, KDDI, and Science Arts will sequentially introduce remote guidance terminals utilizing the call function of the IP wireless intercom app “Buddycom” to the ticket gates of all 171 Tokyo Metro stations by the end of March 2028.

This will enable station staff to provide accurate passenger support from remote locations, realizing the provision of services that meet the diverse needs of passengers.

As the first phase, installations will begin in March of this year at four stations: Aoyama-itchome, Awajicho, Nakano-sakaue, and Higashi-ginza, and remote guidance will commence.

The remote guidance terminals are tablet devices provided by KDDI, incorporating the call function of the IP wireless intercom app “Buddycom” developed by Science Arts. Passengers can communicate with station staff by pressing the call button displayed on the screen of the terminal installed near the ticket gates.

In addition to providing information within the station, when payment or card processing using IC cards or mobile devices is required, passengers can place their cards on the IC card reader at the bottom of the terminal, and station staff can remotely operate the device from the station office to process payments or card transactions on the spot.

From a barrier-free perspective, the system is designed to accommodate passengers with visual or hearing impairments by incorporating voice guidance and chat functions. A translation function (supporting 9 languages) is also included.
