NTT Establishes New Company “NTT Mobility Corporation”
NTT announced its financial results for the April-September 2025 period on Tuesday, the 4th. Operating revenue was ¥6.7727 trillion (an increase of ¥182.1 billion from the previous period), and operating profit was ¥945 billion (an increase of ¥24.8 billion from the previous period). Both revenue and profit increased.
In the regional communications business segment, despite a decrease in revenue from legacy business, operating revenue increased to ¥1.5354 trillion (an increase of ¥346 billion from the previous period), and operating profit remained at the same level as the previous period at ¥187.5 billion (a decrease of ¥3.7 billion from the previous period), due to increased revenue from corporate and optical fiber businesses.
The net increase in optical fiber service subscribers increased due to the 10GB plan and strengthened sales to condominiums.
NTT will establish a new company, “NTT Mobility Corporation,” in December. The company plans to provide one-stop services to comprehensively support the nationwide implementation and operation of autonomous driving services promoted by NTT Group companies.
President Akira Shimada said, “The new company will further collaborate with stakeholders to address various issues related to the societal implementation of autonomous driving. We aim to realize a safe, secure, and sustainable autonomous driving society by developing related services and solutions, including utilizing the NTT Group’s strengths in communication network services.”
Specifically, the new company will provide local governments and transportation operators offering regional transportation services with a package of the mechanisms necessary for autonomous driving, including vehicles and remote monitoring systems. To achieve this, alliances with automobile manufacturers and system vendors will be strengthened. Sales will be handled by NTT Group companies.
“To date, group companies have conducted demonstration experiments at 35 locations nationwide. We want to bring all of this know-how together at NTT Mobility to create a single autonomous driving platform. Autonomous driving requires the integration of map data, communication environments, and other elements. Having separate platforms is not cost-effective or operationally efficient. By implementing various functions on a single platform, we can demonstrate the information processing capabilities of a telecommunications company,” Shimada explained.
NTT aims to achieve sales of tens of billions of yen by 2030.
