Supporting radiation therapy with AI Tohoku University and AiRato
Tohoku University Graduate School of Medicine and AiRato are conducting joint research on “automatic tumor contour extraction for head and neck cancer in radiation therapy.”
In this research, for head and neck cancer patients who have undergone radiation therapy at Tohoku University Hospital, we have developed a technology that can automatically extract tumors on CT images by analyzing medical image data (CT images, MR images, PET images, etc.) multimodally (a method of integrating and processing different types of information) using AI. In the future, we aim to implement this technology in society as radiation therapy planning support software using AI.
AiRato’s proprietary AI combines various radiation images and performs AI analysis. By conducting joint research on this AI technology with Tohoku University, which has clinical data and clinical treatment knowledge, we are developing automatic tumor contour extraction for radiation therapy that can be truly used in clinical settings.
