The town of Obuse in Nagano Prefecture, the University of Tokyo, and NTT East have signed an industry-academia-government collaboration agreement aimed at creating new innovations in the region on a sustainable basis in order to maintain a sustainable society that is full of the region’s unique charm.
By combining Obuse Town’s know-how in citizen-collaboration town development and its pioneering “Youth Conference” and “Virtual Town Council” with the research capabilities of the University of Tokyo and NTT East’s local engineering capabilities and cutting-edge ICT and digital technology, the town will launch the “Mirai Concept College in Obuse” program, which aims to “envision what society will be like in 2050” and implement it in society.
Based on lectures by various experts in urban research and town development and lessons learned from field practice, the town will create a “Mirai Concept Grand Design” and propose it to local stakeholders.
